Our Founder is a Finalist for Chatelaine’s Women of the Year Awards

We are so proud of our Founder and Executive Director, Kim Beatty, for being a finalist in Chatelaine’s Women of the Year Awards.  Her efforts to found our organization over three years ago has produced exceptional results:  Toronto kids now have the chance to own books regardless of the income bracket their families reside in.   More than 200,000 books have been distributed to young readers in our city since we opened our storefront in the Regent Park community.

The Women of the Year awards will not be announced until the end of July.  Until then, please vote for Kim and The Children’s Book Bank here.

Blast Off to Summer Reading

We like to update our display table every week with a new theme.  After a beautiful Canada Day display, our fabulous librarian, Jane, thought that space would be a fun way to begin the first week of summer break.  We coined the table, “Blast Off to Summer Reading” and transformed the giant blue crayon into a  rocket ship!

We even have a model of the universe with a sun that lights up (it’s barely visible under the sign) – thanks to Owen, a Book Bank visitor, for assembling it!
